The newly unveiled Trump World Tower in Manhattan has been dubbed the tallest residential tower anywhere in the world, and with some flats going for upwards of $38 million, it’s surely one of the most exclusive. A bevy of celebrities have signed on the dotted line, drawn by the building’s enviable views of the East River, and supermodel Naomi Campbell now finds herself neighbours with Microsoft honcho Bill Gates and Sophia Loren.
Naomi recently stumped up $5 million for a relatively modest two-bedroom place on the 35th floor of the nearly complete 90-storey tower. New York Yankee baseball star Derek Jeter splashed out a cool $15 million for a five-bedroom bachelor pad, complete with 16ft ceilings, on the 88th floor. And sultry Italian star Sophia Loren has a one-bedroom on the 58th floor.
Gates’s $19.8 million apartment stretches over 8,500 square feet, while Turkish media mogul Cem Uzan has snapped up the penthouse. Uzan’s new 17,000-square-foot duplex on the 90th floor, which is actually four lush apartments combined, sold for a record-breaking $38 million.
“It’s been the most successful condominium development ever built,” boasts Donald Trump of his latest project. And with such lavish amenities as a 60ft swimming pool and private wine cellar, it’s easy to see why the high-profile stars are queuing up to move in.
Rising high above the city skyline, the building overlooks the United Nations complex and also features a private spa and health club, 24-hour concierge and doormen, a world class restaurant and valet parking. Most residences have floor-to-ceiling windows and polished maple floors, while all the bathrooms are fitted with imported marble.
