Heading out of the luxurious Hotel Le Crillon in Paris on Monday night for a dinner with gal pals Gwyneth Paltrow, Ingrid Casares and Stella McCartney, Madonna made an interesting fashion statement. Known for her dramatic image changes, the former cone bra and bustier-wearer looked colourful but decidedly sedate in a red, blue and grey patterned off-the-shoulder poncho.
The Queen of Pop and her chums were dining with husband Guy Ritchie and other close friends at chic eaterie L’Avenue, a favourite spot of flamboyant designer John Galliano.
In town for her Drowned World tour, Madonna played the first of four sold-out concerts on Tuesday night at Palace Omnisports de Paris Bercy, having just completed a string of gigs in Berlin.
The well-received tour, her first in nearly a decade, hasn’t been all glamour for Madonna, however. While in Germany, the Queen of Pop and Oscar winner Gwyneth visited the Nazi concentration camp Sachsenhausen near Berlin, which held 200,000 prisoners during the Second World War.
After Paris, Madonna heads to London, her de facto home, for six sold-out shows at London’s Earls Court. She kicks off the US leg of Drowned World on July 21 in Philadelphia
