Oasis front man Liam Gallagher and former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton celebrated the birth of their baby boy Gene on Monday, with mother and child both said to be doing very well.
Doctors at London’s exclusive £1,300-a-night Portland Hospital assisted in the delivery and Gene was born at 1pm, weighing 6lb 13oz. Though some reports say rocker Gene Vincent is the child’s namesake, a spokesman for the proud parents say they just happen to like the name Gene.
The happy day was truly a family affair with Nicole’s sister Natalie and their father Ken rushing to the scene to congratulate the new mother on the birth of her first child. Liam’s brother Noel arrived shortly after in a silver Mercedes limousine alongside his mother Peggy.
“Nicky looks great,” Noel said after leaving the hospital. “She doesn’t look like she has just had a baby. She looks relaxed, like she’s just been shopping.”
While Nic rested, Liam and Nat headed over to The Mason’s Arms pub for a celebratory pint. However, events soon soured as 43-year-old photographer John Lillington tried to snap photos of the Oasis star. Liam quickly returned to form and with a clenched fist smashed the camera lens as Natalie tried to intervene. “He shouldn’t have done that,” said Liam as he sat back down. The photographer left the bar with blood streaming down his face.
Liam has two children from previous relationships: 19-month-old son Lennon, by his ex-wife, actress Patsy Kensit, and a three-year-old daughter Molly, by singer Lisa Moorish.
