“You see more famous people you’d like to talk to in a square inch than you would normally in a year,” Sir Bob Geldof once said of Sir David Frost’s parties. And judging by the guest list for Sir David’s annual garden party on Wednesday night, this year’s event was no exception.
Sir Elton John and Lord Lloyd Webber were among the celebrities sipping champagne at the exclusive torch-lit affair held at David’s Chelsea home in West London. A large royal contingent was also on hand, including the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Duchess of York, who brought along young Princess Eugenie. Although Prince Charles was elsewhere, his longtime companion Camilla Parker Bowles mingled with guests, turning heads in a white lace cocktail dress.
Ffion Hague, in a figure-hugging brightly-coloured halter-neck dress, was also present, rubbing shoulders with former prime minister Baroness Thatcher, Sir Paddy Ashdown, and James Bond star Roger Moore.
Broadcaster David, knighted in 1993, has interviewed everyone from Tony Blair to Woody Allen and has recently been named the most connected man in Britain by a Harpers And Queen survey.
