Footwear designer Stuart Weitzman has successfully enlisted a few of his celebrity pals in the fight against breast cancer, roping in Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Charlize Theron to decorate a pair of his stilettos each for auction. And as he’s outfitted everyone from veteran actress Ellen Burstyn to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon starlet Zhang Ziyi for the Academy Awards, no doubt he’ll be able to pull in more A-list talent for the charity event.
Sartorial stars including Helen Hunt, Cindy Crawford and American Beauty Mena Suvari have already signed on, agreeing to lend their fashion sense and celebrity to the cause. To add sparkle to the stars’ designs, renowned crystal producers Swarovski will be donating some shimmering detailing.
Weitzman’s footwear have a reputation for comfort, despite their often three or four inch heels. Such is the demand in Tinseltown for his wares that his LA shoe salon opens 24 hours a day, seven days a week for several weeks leading up to the Academy Awards.
Gwyneth – who is reportedly dating actor Luke Wilson – and company’s signature shoes will be unveiled at Stuart’s Manhattan shop and in his Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, boutique at the end of September.
