Tennis champions Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi will walk down the aisle in January at Andre’s £10 million Las Vegas villa, but only after their lawyers settle the details of the marriage contract. The two were rumoured to be planning a quickie wedding for this weekend, however, they’ve postponed the ceremony until the new year, and have just sent out the first invitations to close family and friends.
The couple, who are expecting their first child in December, were expected to tie the knot this weekend, with members of both families flying in to the Florida home of Steffi’s brother. However, lawyers from both sides of the court reportedly suggested the two wait while they iron out an agreement over their combined £166 million fortune – £133 million of which Andre amassed throughout his career.
Talk of the nuptials was rife at Wimbledon, where Steffi was spotted sporting a gold band on her wedding finger, but neither the German star nor the US heart-throb would comment. Seven times Grand Slam winner Andre did eventually confirm one bit of happy news: Steffi’s pregnant. “This is a a very exciting time for us,” he said of the impending birth of a bouncing baby boy. “We are so happy to have been blessed with this gift.”
Steffi and Andre – who was formerly married to Suddenly Susan actress Brooke Shields – have been together for two years.
