Westlife’s Bryan McFadden is so determined to be on hand for the birth of his first child in September he’s reportedly arranged to have a private jet standing by round the clock ready to whisk him back to the UK. The pop quintet heads off to Brazil for a promotional tour in late August and is scheduled to return home on September 5, the day before Bryan’s fiancée Kerry Katona is due to give birth. However, the pop star isn’t taking any chances.
“If I’m away with the boys and the baby decides to make a premature entrance I am going to be ready,” says the heart-throb.
“Bryan will do whatever it takes, whatever the cost, to be there on the big day,” reports one of the star’s friends. “He decided recently to cover all possibilities and pay for a private jet. It’s the most lavish thing he’s ever done in his life.”
The happy couple are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby girl. “It’s a mixture of nerves and excitements at the moment. We’re both on a high,” says Bryan. “I’m getting time off from Westlife for a few weeks when the baby is born so that we can all settle down to the new routine. The doctors have said that everything seems to be fine with the baby so we’re all set for the big day.”
The two have already converted a spare room in their Dublin home into a nursery. “We’ve made it a Jungle Book room,” says the expectant father. “It looks absolutely fantastic.” Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry is scheduled to give birth on September 6, her 21st birthday.
Westlife is scheduled to return to the studio some time in early autumn. However, as band member Shane Filan looks set to sign a five-album solo deal, insiders predict the end of the top-selling group.
