The year-long feud between Victoria Beckham and Sophie Ellis Bextor looks to have been resolved. The two female chart stars were appearing on CD:UK last week when the 22-year-old brunette, who pipped Posh to the Number One spot last summer with her single Groovejet, offered the olive branch to the Spice Girl.
“I decided enough was enough and spoke to Victoria and she seemed fine,” said Sophie, the daughter of former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis. “She was in a dressing room next to mine a couple of days ago and we had a little chat. I think we can finally say that if there ever was any animosity between us, there’s none there now.”
Meanwhile, Victoria had an embarrassing moment on the set of the Saturday morning chart show. As she was filming a dance routine for her new single, Not Such An Innocent Girl, her white top flew open, revealing Victoria’s assets to her teenage fans.
Ever the trouper, Victoria merely grabbed the corners of the garment and carried on with the performance, before rushing off to change once the song had finished. Her minders seized the tape of the incident before it could fall into the wrong hands.
The singer and mother of two-year-old Brooklyn has been offered a new career opportunity - by media mogul and Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi. The tycoon, who owns football team AC Milan, wants Posh’s husband David be signed to the Italian giants by the start of the 2003 season, and has offered Victoria a reported £10 million salary for a position as a presenter on one of the TV stations he owns.
Berlusconi has earmarked £100 million in wages and transfer fees for the Manchester United star, who, on £28,000 a week, is currently one of the Red Devils’ lowest earners. The deal could see him coining in around £150,000 for seven days work. Victoria is positive that David will play abroad at some stage. Perhaps this is why the couple are rumoured to be learning Spanish, as Posh has said that she would like to see her hubby wearing the Barcelona strip one day.
