MAGAZINE KENNEY JONES

It´s a long time since rock star Kenney Jones, complete with pink cowboy boots and a white Rolls Royce, met his new girlfriend at Heathrow. The former Who and Small Faces drummer fell head over heels in love with Canadian model Jayne Andrew. But, somehow, they never got round to formalities. “We adopted each other as being married and then forgot about it,” says Kenney. “Until now.”

Twenty-one years to the day after Jayne arrived in the country – “and four children later” – the couple finally made it to the altar at St Nicholas church in Cranleigh: “We’re not doing this to make ourselves legal at last”, Kenney beamed. “Just think of it as a celebration of our time together.”

Kenney and Jayne’s scorching summer wedding was a mellow mix of tradition and fresh, full-family treat. There was no pomp to their belated ritual, just stylish simplicity and, as Kenney put it, “a sense of real contentment and completion”. Their wedding also came unencumbered by any niggling concerns for the future. For Kenney, 52, and Jayne, 43, have already more than realised their dreams. They have a large family, a 250-acre Surrey estate from which they run their own Hurtwood Park Polo Club and Kenney’s on-site studio, buzzing with musical projects.
