After starring in The Graduate, model Jerry Hall aims to become one herself. The Texas beauty has enrolled in a four-year correspondence course through Britain’s Open University which will culminate in a Bachelor of Arts degree.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, it’s just for me,” says the 45-year-old stunner, who left school as a teenager to start her modelling career. “The children are in school and the youngest has started nursery school and, when you are doing that, you’ve got all day and it’s great fun.”
The former muse of Mick Jagger is about to embark upon an Introduction To Humanities course which encompasses brief surveys of art history, literature, music and religious studies, among other fields. “I will be studying Andy Warhol and I think we will also be learning about the Rolling Stones, which is something I think I’ve got a good head start at,” she jokes. The class requires e-mail discussions among students and runs through October of next year.
This week Jerry, who is dyslexic, helped British Telecom launch Tate Online, a web version of London’s popular Tate Modern Gallery. “I’ve always loved modern art and I adore surrealism,” she says. “With this on-line website you will be able to view the gallery in the intimacy of your home, which I think is fantastic.”
Jerry, who was friendly with famed artist Salvador Dali and his wife Gala when she was just 16, judged 1999’s prestigious Whitbread Book Of The Year Award and reportedly has an IQ of 146.
