Lucas White, the 26-year-old heir of financier Lord White who last year married “It” girl Normandie Keith in Bermuda, is undergoing chemotherapy treatment in both London and the States.
A spokesman from Hanson Capital, the company founded by Lord Hanson and Lucas’s father, said yesterday: “The Honourable Lucas White confirms that he has received excellent and encouraging treatment for cancer both in the UK and the USA in the last few months, which is continuing. He and Normandie are hugely grateful for the tremendous support from close friends, all of whom wish him the speediest recovery.”
Polo-playing Lucas, who has homes in London’s Belgravia, New York and Bermuda, where he lives in voluntary tax exile, owns a 25 per cent stake in Hanson Capital, a Mayfair-based technology venture capital conglomerate, and has a personal fortune estimated at around £70 million. But the ailing tycoon’s elder half-sister Sita is seeking legal advice, claiming that her father, who died in 1995, should have left her more money in his will.
Yorkshire born “Gordy” White, who was given a life peerage for his services to British industry, is thought to have left his 40-year-old daughter, who works as a yoga teacher in Los Angeles, almost three-quarters of a million pounds, as well as a house in Beverly Hills. But it is thought that he felt that Sita, whose nine-year-old daughter was fathered by former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan, would squander a larger bequest.
A friend of Lucas, who did not wish to be named, said that Sita’s actions were not welcome in the White household. “He has had testicular cancer and, shockingly, he was told last week that it has spread,” said the friend. “He is having chemotherapy and he’s obviously not in the best of health. This is hardly the best time for Sita to talk about chasing him for money.”
Testicular cancer tends to affect younger men and the recovery rate is high.
