A glowing Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones joined Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Sally Field, Warren Beatty and Annette Bening on Saturday night for a star-studded bash in celebration of the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF). Hundreds turned out to toast the 80-year-old charity, which provides a wide range of health care and social services for those in the entertainment industry. Guests dined at the fund’s Country House & Hospital in Woodland Hills while raising money for new facilities.
“This is an opportunity for the Hollywood community to come together in the spirit of caring that has overcome the nation,” says Jeffrey Katzenberg, chairman of the Funds Foundation and DreamWorks co-founder. Katzenberg has already secured $50,000 donations from 75 different industry celebs.
Michael Douglas, notably absent from the public eye in the wake of the New York terrorist attacks, turned out for the ceremony alongside his father, legendary actor Kirk Douglas. The two opened the evening's proceedings, which included a musical tribute starring Oscar winning director Sydney Pollack and Home Improvement comedian Tim Allen.
As their first wedding anniversary approaches, the Basic Instinct actor and Catherine Zeta-Jones are probably planning a celebration of their own. The two walked down the aisle last November in an ultra-exclusive, $2 million ceremony at New York’s famed Plaza Hotel, and are sure to mark the event this year.
They have had a lot to celebrate of late. The May-December pair dined at LA hotspot Mr Chow just days after their September 25 joint birthday. Michael turned 57 and Catherine turned 32.
