Twenty-year-old tennis cover girl Anna Kournikova is negotiating to become the next in a long line of beauties to succumb to the charms of dashing secret agent James Bond. Anna, who earned an estimated £8.5 million in off-court deals alone last year, is being tipped to join Pierce Brosnan in what will be his fourth 007 movie - provisionally titled Bond 20.
Friends say that Anna is anxious to make an impression in Hollywood and believes an appearance in the Bond film would guarantee her future projects. It’s not the first time that the Russian-born beauty, who is now 71 in the world tennis rankings, has been on the silver screen. In 2000 she made her film debut with a cameo role alongside Jim Carrey in the Farrelly brothers’ comedy, Me, Myself And Irene.
Sultry Anna, who has not played competitive tennis since pulling out of the US Open championships this year with a stress fracture in her left foot, has said in the past, “I’ve always loved the movies. It’s something that’s fascinated me since I was a little kid and you never know, one day I might have a try.”
The role is yet to be confirmed, but if Anna does become the next Bond girl she will join a select few of film’s most alluring actresses including Ursula Andress, Honor Blackman and more recently French beauty Sophie Marceau.
