Like most companies, film studios have upped security since the September 11 attacks in the US. But famed director Steven Spielberg seems to have taken it a bit too far - he put so many safeguards in place at his DreamWorks headquarters that suddenly even he couldn’t get past the front door.
The Saving Private Ryan director recently insisted all DreamWorks employees be outfitted with specialised identity cards. When he subsequently pulled in to work – sans a studio ID – he found himself locked out.
“I don’t have an identity card. I am Steven Spielberg and I own this company,” he reportedly told the security guard. And while the employee recognised the Oscar-winning auteur, he insisted on seeing official identification. Steven promptly produced a driver’s license and was waved through security. However, the AI star reportedly returned later to praise the guard and pick up an ID card for himself.
Golfer Tiger Woods too has run into security trouble of late – he was denied entrance to a Florida golf tournament after failing to show proper identification. Eventually the superstar athlete gained admittance, but only after a fellow golfer vouched for him.
Tiger’s incident comes just one week after Bob Dylan was stopped at a check point at his Oregon concert because he didn’t have a backstage pass. “Bob said no exceptions,” reports venue manager Chris Borovansky. “Absolutely none.” And that’s what the legendary rocker got.
The situation was resolved relatively quickly. Dylan was initially upset about the misunderstanding but later thanked the security team for their efforts.
