A pregnant Elizabeth Hurley flew to Los Angeles last week to discuss matters with her former flame Steve Bing. However, as the millionaire film producer and suspected father of her unborn child chatted up a string of beauties at a Los Angeles bash, Liz was left pondering single motherhood in the company of her longtime love and confidante Hugh Grant. It seems her relationship with Steve has so deteriorated they now only speak through lawyers.
When Liz announced she was with child two weeks ago, the Estee Lauder beauty named Steve as the baby’s father. The couple had split at the end of August and reports say he was upset at hearing the news. Some say he hoped she would consider terminating the pregnancy.
Steve has, however, remained entirely mum on the subject. “I do not want to discuss it. I have absolutely no comment to make,” he told The Sun over the weekend. And insiders now say he may seek a paternity test.
The 35-year-old producer, who is set to inherit nearly a billion pound fortune from his family, earns a reported £2 million a year and could, under California law, be subject to annual child maintenance payments in excess of £500,000 if he is proven to be the child’s father. The couple split at the end of the summer following a rocky, on-off relationship.
Late last week Steve attended the launch party for Mick Jagger’s latest solo release where he was spotted with a bevy of beauties, none of which turned out to be his new paramour.
“His girlfriend isn’t here right now. She’s a gymnast,” one source told The Sun. “But Steve still has a good time no matter where he goes.”
Steve had been expected in London over the weekend for a London Film Festival screening of his latest film project, Night At The Golden Eagle, however he failed to attend. “Steve’s a private man, and he does his own thing,” star Vinnie Jones told the Daily Express. “I know Steve is a very private man and he won’t even discuss it. It’s not an issue.”
Liz, staying at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons with Hugh of late, is said to be doing well despite the strain. “Obviously her situation with Steve is not ideal, but Elizabeth has got amazingly good friends in England, who all love her and will support her through thick and thin,” said wealthy socialite Henry Dent-Brocklehurst, one of the model’s closest friends.
