Harry Potter author JK Rowling married anaesthetist Dr Neil Murray at their £600,000 Highland estate on Boxing Day, revealed the author’s publicist on Sunday. The bride wore a cream-coloured couture gown at the exclusive ceremony, attended by just 15 friends and family members.
“JK Rowling and Neil Murray were married privately on December 26 in their house in Perthshire,” said spokesperson Nicky Stonehill. “Their immediate families attended the wedding.”
The couple, who dated for just over a year, held the top secret nuptials at 19th century Killiechassie House on the banks of the River Tay near the Perthshire town of Aberfeldy. JK’s seven-year-old daughter Jessica and sister Dianne acted as bridesmaids at the 20-minute ceremony, along with the groom’s sister Lorna.
Both JK and her husband, who appeared together last month at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, have each been married once before. Dr Murray, who was a senior house officer in anaesthetics at an Edinburgh hospital when he met his new bride, is currently studying to practise as a GP.
