David Beckham is known as a fashion trend setter from his diamond encrusted watch to his ever-changing hair cut. He even was voted top sports star in 1999 at the Elle style awards. But he didn’t get to be one of the world’s trendiest men on his own – according to his wife Victoria Beckham, the football star wouldn’t be at the top of best dressed lists if it wasn’t for his stylish spouse.
The husband and wife team, which has become known for their up-to-the-minute designer wardrobes, apparently didn’t start off that way. Posh says Becks had terrible taste in clothing when they began dating, especially his habit of wearing his trousers pulled up a bit too high. Says Victoria: “It was a case of ‘Those trousers, what chest size are they, sir? Aren’t they irritating your nipples?’”
Victoria has transformed her less than fashionable footballer into an international cover boy since their 1999 marriage. And the singer has compared her image overhauling techniques to those of fellow pop diva Britney Spears, currently dating N’Sync’s Justine Timberlake. “Me and Britney can both pick men that aren’t really that great, change the clothes, change the hair and they’re pin ups,” says Victoria.
