Sports babe Anna Kournikova is about to hit the courts, and this time we’re not talking about tennis. Her agent David Schwab says the Russian superstar will file a lawsuit against Penthouse magazine for publishing topless paparazzi photos of her – pictures that he says are of a dark-haired Anna lookalike.
The photos in question, allegedly of the 20-year-old tennis player and Latin heart-throb Enrique Iglesias on a Miami, Florida beach, are featured in a 10-page spread in the June issue, which goes on sale Tuesday.
“The photographs are so dissimilar to Miss Kournikova that anyone who knows her, when they see the photos, will immediately know that the magazine did it on purpose to exploit her and make some additional money,” says David. Anna, a tennis pin-up known for her striking beauty, has never posed nude.
“The magazine has committed numerous violations of Miss Kournikova’s rights, including portraying her in a false light,” added the agent. “We will take all appropriate actions to protect our client’s name, rights and image.”
Penthouse, however, insists the photos they have published – obtained from a freelance photographer – are authentic. “All I can tell you right now is Penthouse is confident that these pictures are genuine,” said a spokesman for the magazine.
