Multi-talented songstress Jennifer Lopez is set to both star and produce a film version of the opera Carmen, updating the classic tale of a Gypsy femme fatale.

The modernised story should be an interesting one – the adaptation teams the Latin diva with Moulin Rouge co-writer Craig Pearce, who also helped scribe Romeo And Juliet and Strictly Ballroom. Craig travelled to some of the world hottest spots – Havana, Miami and Madrid – to research the big screen take on Prosper Merimee’s 19th century short story.

While gets ready for her latest endeavour, J Lo is also gearing up for the premiere of her new film, Enough, which opens stateside May 24. The Latin diva has two other projects in the pipeline – Gigli with Ben Affleck and The Chambermaid alongside Ralph Fiennes. Understandably, she couldn’t be happier.

“I feel good about everything going on,” says Jennifer. “I think it’s a great time in my life. I get tired like everybody else but at the end of the day I really love everything that I’m involved with.”

Enough will also feature a song Jennifer wrote with the help of her hubby Cris Judd. “Cris and I were on our honeymoon after shooting had finished and he was playing around on the piano,” she explains. “He was fooling around with some blues chords and came up with this really pretty melody. I thought I could write something for Enough to that music. So I did.”

Fans in the UK will be able to see Enough – and hear the new tune – this autumn.
