Vinnie Jones started his career as a footballer, moved on to starring as the tough guy in such films as Snatch and Mean Machine, and has now struck out on another whole new career path – music.
The former Wimbledon midfielder has inked a record deal with Telestar records to make an album of all-star duets with an impressive line-up of performers, including Billie Piper and Denise Van Outen. The two beauties will join Vinnie on covers of hits by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
However, the full roster of stars for the disc, due out at Christmas, is not yet complete. “I’m still waiting to hear back from Robbie Williams,” Vinnie told the Daily Mirror. “I’d love to persuade Madonna… but I don’t think she’ll go for it.”
Vinnie’s close pal Madonna might not take part in the upcoming project, but there’s a good chance she and her hubby Guy Ritchie will be at supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s wedding to Mean Machine producer Matthew Vaughn later this month. Vinnie himself has revealed that he and his Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels co-star Jason Statham will be ushers at the statuesque blonde’s nuptials. “It’ll be a great do,” he says. “I can’t wait.”
