With the World Cup kick-off moving ever-closer, David Beckham is slowly but surely on the mend, taking part in a light work-out before heading to the resort island of Jeju in the run-up to Tuesday’s friendly match against South Korea.
Though he’s not yet fit enough to play, the football star was all smiles as he arrived with the national squad, and aims to be ready for England’s June 2 opening match.“I’m going for the first game,” said David, who has been sidelined since breaking his foot in a recent match. However, he added, “But I am not going to take any risks because if it went again I would probably be out for six to seven months.”
The team had a world-class send-off with David and his wife Victoria’s Japanese-themed “white tie and diamonds” party, covered in HELLO! magazine, whose proceeds went to the NSPCC. “If you thought the wedding was camp, you have seen nothing yet,” Victoria said during an ITV programme on the exclusive bash. “This is camper... At the end of the day, it is for a very serious cause, but we have to have a bit of tongue wedged into our cheek.”
