Pop star Robbie Williams has come straight in at number one according to Rachel Hunter who says the secret behind their budding romance is that, “he’s so sexy”. The two have been seen out and about enjoying each other's company over the past four months and, although Robbie denied reports of a relationship with the 32-year-old model three weeks ago, their open displays of affection on two recent dates seem to show otherwise.
The statuesque blonde and the former Take That singer have been spotted in a tight embrace in a Los Angeles bowling alley, and at a weekend outing together to a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game. Rachel has told friends she is “deliriously happy” with Robbie, who is in LA on a six-month break from the music biz. The romance would be the first serious one for the 5ft 11in New Zealander since she split with husband Rod Stewart in 1999 after a nine-year relationship.
The couple have two children, Renee, nine and seven-year-old Liam, but are not yet divorced although the Scottish rocker has given the green light to his ex’s romance. Rod, currently dating photographer Penny Lancaster, said: “Good luck to both of them. I know they will be happy. Rachel is a lovely girl.”
A Los Angeles based business associate of the model said: “There was an instant attraction between her and Robbie. They’re lovely together – relaxed and easy, like they’ve known each other all their lives. Rachel told me Robbie makes her feel special, he’s a real man and so sexy.”
And the Kiwi model has been backed up in her estimation of the hit singer by more than half a million voters in a vote to find the greatest man in music. Robbie, 28, beat off competition from Elvis, David Bowie and John Lennon to top the poll, which was organised for music channel VH1. Robbie, who has clocked up five number ones in his six-year solo career, was more than 77,000 votes ahead of nearest rival Michael Jackson – a chart topper seven times in his solo career. Rod came in in 35th place.
