British glamour model Jordan has revealed that she is suffering from a rare form of cancer, only weeks after learning that her newly-born son Harvey is blind.

Jordan – real name Katie Price – has been diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, or LMS, an extremely uncommon strain of the disease which affects only one in four million people.

LMS attacks the smooth muscle cells found in most parts of the body and in its advanced stages there is only a 50-50 chance of survival. The 24-year-old model went for tests which diagnosed the cancer after noticing a lump on the index finger of her left hand while having a manicure.

“It sounds crazy but I almost had to stop myself from laughing. He (her doctor) was joking, right?” she said. “The word cancer strikes fear into the heart of everybody. But Harvey is my inspiration, my reason for living and beating this thing… For now I have to be strong for Harvey and keep my tears inside. I’ll do my weeping later.”

Harvey, whose father is soccer player Dwight Yorke, was born on May 27. Last month doctors discovered the baby was suffering from a rare genetic condition which meant he would probably never see. In a further blow, doctors also discovered a growth defect which means he will need hormone injections.
