Currently in the US promoting her upcoming film Serving Sara, Elizabeth Hurley, mother of four-month-old Damien, has revealed that the joys of motherhood, in many ways, came as an unexpected surprise.
“What I had absolutely no idea about is that I would be dying to get home just to go and play,” she told American programme Entertainment Tonight. “Or even if he’s asleep. If I’m sitting out at dinner I really just want to go home… Its such a nice feeling. I love it. I really adore it.”
Though the Austin Powers star had some turmoil during her pregnacy – including the legal wrangling over the paternity of baby Damien – the experience hasn’t put her off having more babies in the future. “It was great,” says Liz, “And I would definitely do it again, for sure.”
Liz, 37, put on 53 lbs during her pregnancy, and though it was “utter bliss” to eat junk food, she took time off from work because she was “the size of a tank”. “I had to have an iron will to get back into my jeans… I made a very big effort to be healthy and fit,” she says.
And though her body went through changes during those nine months, the star insists being mummy to her son hasn’t changed her as a person. “I don’t think it's changed me, I just think it’s added to me,” says the actress. “I just feel much, much, much happier. Much more content.”
