Two years after his departure from the hit US sitcom Spin City, Michael J Fox is reportedly in the final stage of talks to make a return to TV. This time, however, he’ll be behind the scenes, writing and producing a show with a main character who might ring familiar – a high-profile celebrity who readjusting to a new life after being thrust into an early retirement.
It is not known if Michael will also appear in the the as-yet-unnamed sitcom, which revolves around a hockey great who, after leaving the limelight, finds himself spending more time with his family. But the 41-year-old actor can surely speak from experience in his role as writer-producer – since quitting Spin City to battle Parkinson’s disease, he’s been focused on a home life with his wife Tracy Pollan and their four children, including the newest addition to the family, ten-month-old Esme Annabelle.
His latest project, which follows voice work on two Stuart Little films and the animated movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire, would be aired on US broadcaster ABC, home of Spin City.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled at the possibility of also being a part of his future with this new comedy project,” says the network’s president of entertainment Susan Lyne.
