Speculation over the real relationship between Macca’s new wife Heather Mills and the former Beatle’s children took a further twist this week with Lady McCartney’s claims that she and Stella get on “brilliantly”. In her comments, made during an interview with New York magazine, Heather says her relations with the veteran rocker’s other children are equally chummy.
The anti-landmines activist’s wedding two months ago was dogged by reports that Paul’s kids were unhappy with their father’s new marriage. And the singer himself has described the situation as “difficult”.
“I am so close to the daughters, you’ve got no idea,” insists the former model, however. “I speak to Heather, the eldest, especially 40 minutes every day. Every day!” She also claims that Stella had recently issued a press release confirming the two get on well together.
All of which is apparently news to Stella’s publicist Mesh Chhibber. “Stella never discusses her private life,” he says. “So a press release would never have been issued.”
Comments made by Heather’s own representative, Anya Noakes, further muddy the waters. “I’m not pretending she has never exaggerated stories”, said Ms Noakes, “but I don’t think it has ever been done with malicious intent”.
