Liz Hurley has become the victim of an attempted burglary just days after she spoke out about feeling unsafe in London. Scotland Yard revealed on Tuesday that the offices of Simian Films, the production company the actress shares with former boyfriend Hugh Grant, was the target of the crime.

Officers called to premises in Chelsea, west London late on Friday found a basement door had been broken into. However, police say, it appears that no property was taken.

Meanwhile, Icelandic singer-actress Bjork also joined London’s growing list of celebrity crime victims after her luxury flat was raided over the weekend. Thieves invaded the 36-year-old star’s west London home as she slept, reportedly making off with valuable recording equipment.

Geri Halliwell, Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, Jerry Hall and Elle Macpherson have all had their homes burgled recently.

News of the break-ins comes after claims by Austin Powers star Liz and Dynasty actress Joan Collins that the capital city is becoming less safe. Liz remarked that Britain needs a “stronger police presence in the streets”, while Joan spoke of her fears in her own neighbourhood. “Groups of muggers are frequently attacking people in the area where I live in London,” she said. “And the police don’t appear to be able to do anything about it.”
