Romeo Beckham made his football debut on Tuesday – on his dad’s soccer boots. Doting dad David had Adidas do a rush job on his boots to add the three-day-old lad’s name to the tongue, just above that of older brother Brooklyn, for the match between Manchester United and Middlesbrough.
The £130 red Adidas Predator Mania boots were jetted from the manufacturer’s HQ in Germany to Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium just in time for the match. Becks started the trend by having three-year-old Brooklyn’s name emblazoned on his boots, and plans more additions if he and pop star wife Victoria have any future children.
“We had left a space above Brooklyn and stitched in the child’s name as soon as we knew it,” said an Adidas spokesman. “If David has any more babies, we’ll have to go back to the drawing board to decide where the next one will go.”
Meanwhile, Victoria was described as looking “radiant” by pal David Furnish, after he visited her at the Portland Hospital in west London on Wednesday. Thirty-nine-year-old David – who is Elton John’s companion – took the pop singer a bouquet of pink and orange flowers and said, “Romeo is beautiful – he looks just like Brooklyn”.
