Superstar Jennifer Lopez was just one of the A-list ladies lending a touch of Hollywood glitz to the 13th Annual Glamour Women Of The Year Awards at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night. Also on the red carpet for the star-studded event, which spotlights achievers in fields from science to entertainment, were actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver, who was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.
The Alien star earned the gong for her "decades of portraying women with strength, dignity and courage", joining a long list of previous recipients, including interview doyenne Barbara Walters and the first ever woman to run for US vice president, Geraldine Ferraro.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer diva Sarah Michelle, who was accompanied by husband and Scooby Doo co-star Freddie Prinze Jr, took home an award for "slaying TV audiences, for her strength and finding new big screen success", while Canadian singer Alanis Morissette was named for "putting the hopes, fears and anger of a generation" into her music.
Other Women Of The Year included TV journalist Katie Couric, US senator Hillary Clinton, Olympic gold medallist Kelly Clark and designer Kate Spade.
