Latin diva Jennifer Lopez, aka J Lo, has hinted that she could be prepared to give up her career for motherhood, or at least put it on the back burner for a while.
In a recent interview, the twice-married singer-turned actress hinted strongly that marriage and family are to be part of her future. She also confirmed that her current beau, hunky actor Ben Affleck, is the top candidate for the role of father. When asked by MTV if she and Ben had talked about having children, Jen answered happily: "Yeah".
Though their relationship began less than a year ago, signs point to Jennifer and Ben tying the knot once her divorce from choreographer Cris Judd comes through next January. The pair share Ben's New York home and he has given her several lavish presents - including a £150,000 Aston Martin and a 25-carat pink diamond ring - that have not gone unnoticed in showbiz circles.
Thirty-two-year-old Jennifer says, "I'm not conscious of my body clock yet," and reckons she has "a few years left" before making a final decision over motherhood. She admits, however, that a baby would be a "big blessing in my life...absolutely worth the sacrifice".
She adds: "I always wanted to be married and have children, so if I want kids I will have to get married again". All of which points to third-time-round nuptials before having a family becomes a real possibility.
However, despite J Lo's declaration that she might take time off, "maybe six months next year", her busy schedule makes the prospect of a new addition unlikely in the near future. The workaholic star has a crowded agenda with three movies - two of them starring boyfriend Ben - ready for release in the coming months, as well as a 40-date US tour to promote her new album This is Me...Then kicking off in April 2003.
While most of Hollywood is buzzing with rumours of an impending Affleck-Lopez wedding, not everyone is convinced it would work out for the best. Ben's mum, schoolteacher Chris, has apparently warned him against marrying "bad bet" Lopez and has tried to encourage him to make up with his former girlfriend Gywneth Paltrow.
