Mercury Prize winner Ms Dynamite has continued her hot streak, by leading the Top Of The Pop nominations, which were revealed on Thursday. The star scored three nods, tying with rock outfit Coldplay and pop singer Will Young who also found themselves on a trio of short lists.
Top R&B act nominee Ms Dynamite also competes with Will, Gareth Gates, The Streets and Holly Valance in the top newcomer category, and will face off with Coldplay, Doves, Eminem and Pink for top album.
This year's awards, the second in the nearly 40-year-old music programme's history, will be hosted by Irish pop singer Ronan Keating at the Manchester Evening News Arena on November 29.
The first-ever Top Of The Pops awards show was held in 2001 and featured an A-list line-up of guests, including Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Tom Jones. "We aim to make our bash as glamorous as the Oscars and as much fun as the MTV Awards," promises the event's executive producer Chris Cowey.
Ms Dynamite and Will Young are expected to perform at the 2002 star-studded show, along with Australian chart-toppers Kylie Minogue, Craig David, Blue and Moby.
