Friends and family are helping David and Victoria Beckham cope with daily life after Sunday's shock revelation of a £5 million plot to kidnap the Spice Girl. And the celebrity couple aren't just seeking comfort from loved ones – they have called in security experts to seek ways to make their home even more intruder-proof than it already is.
As police stood at the gates of the high-profile pair's Sawbridge mansion – also known as "Beckingham Palace" – security professionals were brought in to review existing measures on Sunday. Set in 24 acres of land, the estate already has electronically-controlled iron gates with a secure gate house, CCTV cameras, 24-hour guards and visible burglar alarms. Victoria's father, Tony Adams, was spotted at the estate consulting with protection staff, and experts in the field from David's club, Manchester United, have also become involved.
Becks, however, seems to be determined to get on with life as usual. He drove himself to training on Monday, albeit followed by a people carrier with a team of bodyguards.
Though wife Victoria is said to be in hiding, close friend Elton John said the star is handling the dramatic situation well. "I spoke to Victoria about half and hour ago and she's in much better spirits than she was (on Sunday)," said Elton as he picked up a Music Industry Trust Award. "This has been such a harrowing experience and such a traumatic thing for her to have to go through, but they are all right."
