The opening night of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's first restaurant on Thursday boasted a tasty turnout, with supermodel Jodie Kidd and British designers Paul Smith and Jasper Conrad partaking of the eaterie's Mediterranean menu.
Another show-stopping invitee was Jamie's pregnant wife Jules, who wore a stripey top that showed off her growing bump. The former model confessed she was as curious as any other guest to see the end result of her hubby's years of planning. "The restaurant looks fantastic," she said. "I've yet to see the finished product tonight so I'm quite excited."
Jamie, who was described by his wife as "a bit anxious and nervous", expressed his gratitude towards his spouse at the gala opening. "Luckily Jules has been very supportive," he said. "She just wants me to be happy and I am."
The central London restaurant is a unique experiment, fully staffed by underprivileged young people between the ages of 16-24 who were trained at cooking schools and by Jamie himself over the course of this year. All profits from the 70-seat venue go to Cheeky Chops, a charity which supports training for the student chefs.
