Hungarian-born actress Zsa Zsa Gabor is in a serious condition at a Los Angeles hospital after suffering head injuries in a car crash on Thursday.
The octogenarian, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital after a car driven by her hair stylist struck a large pole on Sunset Boulevard. The star was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
Her husband of more than 15 years, Frederic von Anhalt, said that she had been slipping in and out of consciousness. "She can't talk," he said. "She opens her eyes but we don't know if she recognises us." Her daughter, Constance Francesca Hilton, says her mother had broken her arm, but denied reports of a coma.
Known for her full-on glamour and multiple marriages, the 85-year-old former Miss Hungary cemented her diva reputation in 1989 after slapping a police officer who had stopped her Rolls Royce.
Zsa Zsa, the author of such books as How To Catch A Man, How To Keep A Man, How To Get Rid Of A Man, has been married eight times. "A girl must marry for love and keep on marrying until she finds it," she famously said. The shortest of her marriages lasted just one day.
