R&B sensation Ms Dynamite is said to be delighted after finding out that she is pregnant.
She and boyfriend Dwayne Seaforth, who live together in north London, are looking forward to the arrival of their baby in five months' time. The singer is clearing her diary in anticipation of the birth and will no doubt enjoy a rest after a year which has been extremely hectic for the 21-year-old.
Her meteoric rise to stardom has kept Ms Dynamite – real name Niomi McClean Daley - very busy in recent months. The effort was worthwhile, however, as she now has a Mercury Music Prize and three MOBO awards to her name. She has also been nominated for four prizes in the Brit Awards, which are to be handed out next month.
"The pregnancy came as a bit of a shock but she's delighted," said a spokesperson at her record company Polydor. "She's only young but she and Dwayne make a great couple - it is fantastic news for them.
"It's still early days and she's only told a few select people. She's so busy dealing with constant offers of work but she's having to re-evaluate her life. She is looking at her commitments for the rest of 2003."
While fans will no doubt be pleased to hear the good news, they may also be a little disappointed if they had been hoping to see her in concert during 2003. While nothing has been confirmed as yet, it seems likely that the arrival of baby Dynamite this summer may put paid to plans for a UK tour.
