Zoe Ball and star DJ Norman Cook – better known as Fatboy Slim – have confirmed their separation after four years of marriage. The pressures of balancing high-profile careers and family life reportedly caused the break-up of the celebrity pair, who had shared what seemed to be one of the most stable relationships in showbiz.
The couple, parents to two-year-old Woody, spent Sunday together in an effort to solve their marital problems. "We are determined to try and make it work again," said Norman after a gig in Brighton on Saturday night.
"We are still very much in love," affirms Zoe, a radio DJ on London's Xfm. "We have problems just like any other couple, but I don't want anybody else."
Friends and family have rallied round the couple in the hope that they will repair their marriage. Fatboy's father Ronald told the Daily Express that his son's infamous drinking – he admitted last summer to "usually" indulging in half a bottle of vodka before performing – wasn't the cause of the split, as had been reported. "I think it is more general than just about drinking or taking drugs… They are still very fond of each other. I think that it's the pull of career and family obligations which are impossible to juggle."
Zoe's dad, children's TV presenter Johnny Ball, also came forward to express his support. "We love them both to death and just hope they can work it out," he said.
