One of Britain’s favourite comedians, Vic Reeves, has married his girlfriend Nancy Stowell in a ceremony attended by a host of his show biz friends.
The 44-year-old welcomed about 200 people, including HELLO! magazine photographers, to the wedding at Eastwell Manor near Ashford in Kent. His comedy partner Bob Mortimer had to perform a slightly different role than he’s used to, as Vic had asked him to be best man.
Guests, including Ulrika Jonsson, Will Self, Mark Lamarr and Jools Holland, were asked to wear white for the event to give it a non-traditional feel.
Reeves met 26-year-old Nancy two years ago when they were making a BBC TV programme. He proposed to her in London’s leading celebrity hangout The Groucho Club, after serenading her with The Very Thought Of You.
It had been rumoured that Vic’s ex-wife Sarah Vincent would be a bridesmaid at the ceremony, but she later revealed she had not even been invited. The comedian’s children, Louis, 4, and Alice, 8, were in attendance however.
The wacky comic’s troubled romantic history gave the wedding a special significance. He was previously engaged to actress Emilia Fox, but she broke up with him, and his ex-wife Sarah left him to begin a relationship with her personal trainer Julia Jones.
