Two of the world's sexiest men have joined forces to bring a paternal message to the people of Britain.
Movie heart-throb Pierce Brosnan and England soccer captain David Beckham are both appearing in a new publication, simply entitled Dad, which is to be given out to expecting fathers at antenatal clinics.
The government-funded "infozine" aims to provide novice dads with tips on how to perform their demanding new role. "You have to nurture that life in the womb," says devoted father-of-five Pierce. "They are gifts from god, you should sing to it and talk to it."
Becks meanwhile admits that fatherhood is a messy business, even for a style icon. "The white Versace suit is not so white anymore," he reveals. The Manchester United-star goes on to say parenting is the one thing more important than football.
The magazine's editor, Jack O’Sullivan, argues that the publication reflects "a social revolution" in Britain, where fathers now do one third of parental childcare. "Dads want to be fully informed so that they can care confidently for their children and for their partners," he said. "This is a bold attempt to tackle the real lives of real men in a world where fathers play a crucial role in babies’ lives.”
