PAMELA ANDERSON'S VEGGIE TEMPTATION

Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is aiming to turn Liverpool's red-blooded men into veggi-lovers. The voluptuous beauty is appearing on billboards in the city dressed only in a lettuce-leaf bikini, to tell Liverpudlians to eat vegetarian.

The campaign has been launched by Peta – People For The Fair Treatment Of Animals – and is hoping to convince people to opt for a meat-free lifestyle. "Turn over a new leaf – go veggie," reads the slogan on Pammie's posters.

"This is a tantalising image and we are hoping even die-hard carnivores may be tempted," said Peta spokesperson Sean Gifford. It was decided to launch the campaign in Liverpool after it was branded Britain's second-fattest city by a popular health magazine.

And it is not the first time the inimitable Ms Anderson has offered her considerable charms in support of animal welfare. She previously appeared on a Peta video calling on people to boycott Indian leather goods. The 35-year-old became concerned about the treatment of cows in the impoverished nation, after seeing footage filmed by Peta activists there.
