Friends and loved-ones of Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have been offering their congratulations, after the couple announced they are expecting their first child.
"The whole family is delighted with the news. It will bring a breath of life to the McCartney family," said Paul's brother Mike, adding: "Us McCartneys are very good at being dads."
And his old friend Gerry Marsden, of Gerry And The Pacemakers fame, also agreed that Macca will be a wonderful parent. "I'm so pleased for Paul – and at his age as well," he said. "It's good to see there's life in the old dog yet. He'll make a great father."
The happy news comes not long after Heather revealed her fears she would never have children. Appearing in a television interview three months ago, the 34-year-old held her finger and thumb an inch apart and said: "The chances of me getting pregnant are that much."
Heather, who has been troubled by fertility problems, had previously expressed her upset at tabloid rumours she was expecting. "They said I'd been pregnant, which is really hurtful, knowing that I've had cancer of the uterus and two ectopic pregnancies," she told Michael Parkinson last year.
