David and Victoria Beckham made a glittering impression when they presented a prize at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles at the weekend. Dressed in matching white outfits and dripping in diamonds, Britain's favourite couple presented the Best Transatlantic Breakthrough gong to Irish hunk Colin Farrell.
The Beckhams have spent the last week on a publicity drive in the US in an effort to raise their worldwide profile. And Victoria, who has been working on a hip hop recording with legendary producer Damon Dash, also admitted that she hopes to launch a movie career.
"I'd love to be in a movie," she said. "But I've also got my own record to bring out here, too. We've been having a really good time. When David plays football here in the summer I'll be coming out as much as I can."
Their appearance at the star-studded prizegiving was the perfect opportunity for the pair to boost their profile across the pond. But unfortunately, Colin may have scuppered their efforts by launching a characteristically foul-mouthed outburst when he arrived on the stage. As a result, producers may decide to cut their appearance before the ceremony is shown on US television next weekend.
The singer and her soccer ace husband will not be forgotten by the A-list audience, however, which included such notables as Adrien Brody, Harrison Ford, Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst and Paris Hilton. And after attending Justin Timberlake's afterparty, David and Victoria showed their simple tastes by tucking into a McDonald's meal.
