UNITED HAS TREATED MY SON 'UNFAIRLY' SAYS BECKS' DAD

David Beckham's father has been speaking out about the controversial deal that may see his son moving to Barcelona. Manchester United announced a £30-million agreement to sell their star player just days ago, but David says he was not consulted and may refuse to go.

"He has to talk to Victoria about it and see what she says before he decides," said Ted from his home in Essex. "One of the things they have to talk about is the children – Brooklyn is at nursery school up north."

Ted also spoke openly about the rift between his son and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. "I can't believe the club is doing this to him," he declared. "It's ridiculous that all this is happening because Fergie doesn't like him anymore. David doesn't want to go. What Fergie has done for David over the years has been marvellous, helping his career develop, but now it's terrible what is going on. Fergie has not spoken to David for months… he's been at the club since he was a nipper and it seems such a shame."

David was just a boy when he first started playing for United, and he has always described it as the only club he wants to play for. A move to one of Spain or Italy's big teams now seems inevitable, however. It is believed that Real Madrid would be his first choice, though AC Milan is also in the running.

And while David is sure to pick up a lucrative deal wherever he goes, many feel he has been unfairly treated at Old Trafford. "Obviously loyalty doesn't mean a thing in football," fumed his father. "It's a ruthless, ruthless game. It's unfair to David's family who are settled in England. David's pride is hurt severely."
