The latest Forbes list ranking the rich and powerful of the celebrity set has some fascinating new additions on it, including Eminem, Oscar winner Halle Berry, Austin Powers star Mike Myers and American Idol host Simon Cowell.
But perhaps the most surprising aspect of the "Celebrity 100", which gauges both earning power and media presence over the last 12 months, is who's not on it.
In the Hollywood stakes, at least one familiar power player is nowhere to be seen. While red-hot movie star Nicole Kidman's $27 million in earnings – as well as her Oscar win coverage, spectacular Cannes appearance and new title as fashion icon – helped her move into the top 20, her ex-hubby Tom Cruise's star cache wasn't enough to garner him a spot.
Music stars Celine Dion, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Eminem producer Dr Dre did make the cut, but longtime stalwarts Madonna, Mariah Carey and U2 – who all made the top ten in 2002 – are absent from the list. Last year's top earner, Britney Spears, is completely missing in action, mostly due to the hiatus she took from her career in 2003.
