So what is your beauty routine?
“I tend to use Decleor or Dermalogica skin care. Even before I started modelling I was religious about a cleansing/toning/moisturizing regime and I really do look after myself at home – with scrubs and face masks – and go for a facial every two or three months.“I’ve had some subtle highlights put through my hair and the combination of colour, the length and it being styled so much for TV appearances, means I do need to have it trimmed every couple of months to keep it in shape. I go to Richard Ward for both cut and colour.
“I’m not at all a gym person, but I am very active - I’ve danced since I was seven and still do my stretches every day. I cycle loads when I’m in LA, the views are amazing, the sun is beautiful and I can ride for hours without really noticing! The same is true in London but it’s walking. Because I don’t drive, I walk everywhere. I’ll be marching along in my flip-flops from appointment to appointment and before I know it I’ve covered miles! So I exercise subconsciously.
“And I don’t diet – I think I’ve a really healthy attitude to food, I do watch what I eat but I listen to my body and if I want fish and chips, I’ll have fish and chips! And desserts. I love desserts but everything in moderation…”
What have you got in your make-up bag?
“I don’t usually wear much make-up during the day unless I’m working. Because I’ve quite olive skin I don’t bother with foundation – just a little mascara and lip balm – but when I do get made up I like quite a glamorous look. I love what the make-up artist did on the Venus shoot – all golden, honey and caramel tones on shimmery eyelids and lips, with great eyelashes. I went straight to an awards ceremony after the shoot and just added some kohl to my eyes to emphasise them a bit more (I wore a dark dress) and that was it!”
What is your favourite asset?
“I don’t know; I’ve my Mum’s colouring, which is great because she has a southern European skin tone so I tan, and my Dad’s pale eyes – nice features from both my parents! And I do quite like my legs. If I want to feel sexy I will ‘get my legs out’ and wear a mini. When you put heels on you automatically stand taller and the muscles in your legs look more toned, you strut a little bit, feel like a diva.”
You spend a lot of time in LA now where everyone seems obsessed with cosmetic surgery - would you ever consider it?
“I think there is a danger of everyone ending up with the same features, the same nose and chin – lots of people in LA are starting to look very similar. Everyone has perfect straight, white teeth, too, everything is too perfect. It means when I do notice someone has a slightly crooked smile or something it’s real and there’s a greater beauty in reality.
“That said, I wouldn’t necessarily rule out a nip or tuck years in the future – if I feel I need it.”
What do you want to do next workwise?
“I love what I do, so definitely more of the same! I’ve worked with some really cool people and I have such a laugh with my job, it’s great, I’m very lucky. I’d like to still do TV presenting, but as well as music do some more broader entertainment shows – primetime Saturday night as well as Top Of The Pops.”
What are your hopes and aspirations personally for the future?
“Having a family, kids and stuff, will be on the agenda some day, but for now I’m having the time of my life just doing what I’m doing now.”
