David Beckham is getting to know his new Real Madrid team-mates this week, as the Spanish club begins a promotional tour of the Far East. The star-studded squad heads out to the Chinese city of Kunming on Thursday and will play its first match with Becks against the China Dragons on August 2.
When they arrive home two weeks later, they begin training for the national league. And as the squad is defending the premiership trophy, there are high expectations of Becks. But that is just one of the challenges the England skipper and his wife must face. Because despite the rapturous reception they have received in the Spanish capital, the golden couple has not yet found a home.
The twosome, who are well-known for their penchant for shopping, finished uncharacteristically empty-handed after a bout of house-hunting last month.
They looked around the former residence of exiled Venezuelan president Pérez-Jiménez, but were not tempted to make an investment. And they rejected a modest mansion in the exclusive suburb of La Moraleja because it offered a wonderful view – to passengers on passing buses. Another estate, which boasted two swimming pools and ten bathrooms, also suffered from too much public exposure.
The latest rumour is that they will take up residence with fellow Brit Steve McManaman while they have a multi-million pound mansion specially built. But for now, the Beckham clan remains homeless.
Hellomagazine.com's Beckham Files will be keeping a close eye on the family's fortunes, however. So when they do find the home of their dreams, you'll find all the details right here.
