One of the most celebrated duos in music history is to reunite after Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel announced they will go on tour together one last time. It is 33 years since the pair, who were one of the most important acts of the 1960s, went their separate ways.

Since then relations between the two have been strained at times, but they came together to perform their legendary hit The Sound Of Silence at this year's Grammys. "I think this is going to be the last time that we're going to do this," said Paul as the plans were announced. "It was the Grammys that forced it out of burial."

The legendary singer also made reference to the difficulties in their relationship, but indicated things were now on a friendlier footing. "We've known each other since the age of 11," he said. "Forgive, forget, move on. It's not like you live forever."

The "Old Friends" tour is to begin in Michigan on October 18 and visit some 30 US cities before it draws to a close in December. A new 32-track greatest hits album will also be released.
