Cherie Blair's confidante and stylist Carole Caplin has hit back at reports that she plans to reveal all about the Prime Minister and his wife in an upcoming book.
After British newspapers claimed she was considering a £1 million deal for a insider look at the Blairs, the lifestyle guru has pledged her loyalty, saying such a project would be "the most serious breach of confidence imaginable".
"Miss Caplin has no (nor ever has had any) intention of writing a book, newspaper article(s) otherwise describing, for payment or otherwise, anything about her relationship with the Prime Minister and Mrs Blair," read a statement from her lawyers. The announcement added that Carole also would not disclose "any confidential information whatsoever" about the PM's family or political life.
Weekend newspapers reported that the 41-year-old's unhindered access to No 10 Downing Street had been revoked after officials complained that a personal adviser should not have such high-level clearance. The prime minister's spokesperson refused to comment on security matters, but did say: "In respect of all the other stories about Carole Caplin, who the Blairs might or might not see in a personal capacity is a matter for them."
It is said that Mrs Blair and Carole have continued their friendship and were due to visit a gym together this week.
