David and Victoria Beckham have issued a statement to deny reports that their marriage is in trouble. The couple, who are currently living in a hotel in Madrid, admitted that finding a home in the Spanish capital has proven difficult, however.
"Contrary to newspaper reports, our marriage is not in crisis," they said. "We are extremely happy together as a family. Our only difficulty has been finding a house in Madrid that meets our needs."
In recent weeks the pair have spent the bulk of their time apart, as David finds his niche with new team Real Madrid and Victoria concentrates on her modelling and musical collaborations with hip hop mogul Damon Dash.
Becks spent the weekend basking in the praise of his teammates, after playing a key role in their Champions League victory over Marseille, while Victoria was back in London, promoting her modelling work with Damon. And it seems the former Spice Girl may be spending even less time in Spain, as the producer is planning to move to Britain to work on his collaborations with her full-time.
The Beckhams insist they are still very happy together, however. "Since we first met our careers have always meant we have spent time apart," they said. "This is not a reflection on the strength of our marriage and we are very much enjoying our new life in Spain."
