The cast of EastEnders basked in West End glory on Tuesday, when the residents of Albert Square swept the board at the National Television Awards.
Shane Richie, who plays pub landlord Alfie Moon, was named most popular actor at the ceremony in Kensington's Royal Albert Hall. And Jessie Wallace, who is better known as Walford's good-time girl Kat Slater, took home the gong for most popular actress.
Best newcomer went to another of their neighbours, Nigel Harman, but EastEnders' crowning glory came when it was named best serial drama, beating off the challenge from Coronation Street.
Other big winners on the night included Cold Feet star James Nesbitt, for best comedy performer, and veteran actor David Jason, whose police series A Touch Of Frost won best drama.
Photographers waiting outside the bash were treated to a who's-who of British celebrities, as a series of stars braved the cold in plunging necklines and flimsy dresses. It was an Italian who turned the most heads, however, as Nancy Dell'Olio arrived in a stunning £7,000 satin ballgown.
The press pack was also sent into a frenzy by the surprise appearance of Starsky And Hutch stars David Soul and Michael Glaser. David, who has made England his second home, will soon be joining the cast of popular crime series Dalziel and Pascoe.
