Victoria Beckham seems to be getting into the swing of things in Madrid, planning a spectacular New Year's Eve party to help her make a splash in Spanish society.
According to an insider, the bash, which will take place at the Beckham's rented £4.5-million estate, will likely feature gourmet tapas, a Spanish band and a celebrity guestlist including stars from Real Madrid footballers to Liz Hurley. "Victoria wants the emphasis on glamour," says a friend.
The Beckhams have been busy making pals with Spain's celebrity set, stepping out for their first social outing together since this summer. The two joined some a host of models, bullfighters and aristocrats at a dinner held by one of Madrid's elite, Isabel Preysler, who is Enrique Iglesias's mum and a friend of the Prince of Wales.
Meanwhile, one person who will be unlikely to cross social paths with the celebrity pair is British football fan Tony Fox, who duped security to gain entry at Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium to see David. "I just did it for a lark," he recalled. "I walked up to the gate and said, 'Amigo of Beckham'."
Guards escorted the prankster to a half-naked Becks, who was having physiotherapy for a thigh injury. "They showed me in and there he was in a pair of white jockey pants and a white T-shirt," says Tony. "I couldn't believe it." Once face-to-face with his idol, Tony came up with the tall tale that they'd met when he was dating Baby Spice. However, David didn't fall for his "amigo's" ruse, and Real Madrid staff quickly escorted the daring fan out of the building.
